Large Wood US Naval Air Facility Sign 36 x 31 inches Vietnam Theater

Description

I think this is Vietnam era as the original paint appears to have been a bright orange and then painted over to a dark blue, probably when they realized that the orange just made the site a giant target.  Very hard to tell though it has a lot of use and could even be WW2.  It is all wood, with a plywood base and solid wood letters and insignia.  You can see the orange paint under the letters as the original color.  Measures 36 x 31 inches and weighs nearly 25 pounds.  I would imagine this was a temporary sign and moved along with the facility as it changed locations during the war, thus all the scrapes and scuffs.
A rare almost one of a kind item.
