Vintage Estee Lauder Youth Dew Flowering Tangerine Pumpkin Solid Perfume Compact
This “Flowering Tangerine” Estee Lauder solid perfume compact was issued in 1971 and contains her Youth Dew scent. Lauder began issuing these collectible solid perfume compacts in the late 1960's and continues to the present day. These darling vanity items have inspired collectors around the world and they are avidly sought. This goldtone metal one with embossed flowers in alternating panels with the textured “tangerine” segments is a great example. It measures 1 1/2” in diameter from the tip of the opening buttons to the hinge at the back and 15/16” tall. The interior has an applied plate in the lid which has the Estee Lauder name and the perfume compartment is partially filled with Youth Dew solid perfume which has been used and is an age-darkened brown. It is in good used condition. I have seen this compact identified online as a pumpkin, but according to the Estee Lauder Solid Perfume Compact Collection book it is a flowering tangerine. This piece is a nice addition to a vanity item collection and especially for an Estee Lauder collector.
There is some very minor discoloration and a very tiny chip in the metal on top as shown in detail photos.
